Data Brief PSR-DB-2026-02 · May 20, 2026 · Draws on the Buyer Trust Report sample (N=412)

Data brief: review-platform usage by PR teams

Which review platforms PR teams actually check, and how much they trust each one.

87%check G2 before a PR tool purchase
54%check Reddit threads; 41% check Capterra; 31% check TrustRadius
72%say a named platform's verified reviews are more trustworthy than anonymous comparison blogs

What the data shows

G2 dominates the pre-purchase check for PR software, at 87 percent of respondents. Reddit serves a different function - troubleshooting and 'is it worth it' sentiment - at 54 percent. The trust hierarchy is consistent: named-platform verified reviews over anonymous comparison content, and both over vendor-run blogs, which 68 percent of teams say have misled them at least once (the headline figure of the Buyer Trust Report).

Implication for buyers

Start where the verification is: G2's verified reviews for the tool's current state, Reddit for the failure modes, and the vendor's own G2 responses for how they behave when criticized. Comparison blogs rank first on Google but last on this sample's trust ladder.
